TRUCK, Unique Dance/Video Production, comes to the Southern Tier

Bridgman|Packer Dance, internationally renowned for their work merging video projection with dance movement, will bring TRUCK to the Southern Tier, making two stops- Johnson City, NY on Wed. July 25 and Corning, NY on Fri. July 27, 2018. These performances are presented by the American Dance Asylum in partnership with the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage (Johnson City, NY) and in partnership with the Rockwell Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate (Corning, NY).

Lois Welk, Coordinator of the project remarked, “Bridgman|Packer Dance has spent the better part of four decades refining their craft and the results are always surprising and evocative.  They are masters at integrating live performance with video projection.”

TRUCK is performed inside a customized panel truck, with the audience looking into the truck from a designated seating area. Each performance is approximately 20 minutes and will be repeated three times nightly. Admission is free. Seating is limited. Tickets are required.

Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer, Artistic Directors of Bridgman|Packer Dance, have collaborated as performers and choreographers since 1978. Their innovative work developing "Video Partnering" — the integration of live performance and video technology — has been acclaimed for its highly visual and visceral alchemy of the live and the virtual. They are recipients of a 2017 New York Dance and Performance Award (The Bessies) for Outstanding Production for Voyeur at The Sheen Center.

The 2008 Guggenheim Fellowship awarded to Bridgman and Packer was the first in the history of the Guggenheim Foundation to be given to two individuals for their collaborative work. Bridgman and Packer are recipients of ten grants from the National Endowment for the Arts (2007-2017) and grants from New England Foundation for the Arts, New York State Council for the Arts, National Dance Project, USArtists International, Performing Americas Project, and La Red.

In describing their work in 2016, the Huffington Post wrote: "The world of wonder that these two generated felt like a painting awakening to devour reality.”
