Flamenco@First Friday, presented by the American Dance Asylum, launches on Friday Nov 3, 2017 at Atomic Tom Gallery & Atelier, 196 State St. Binghamton NY.  The cabaret-style event, inspired by the Café Cantantes of 19th century Spain, features two dancers and two musicians from Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana in a 30 minute presentation.  The evening opens at 7:30pm with Spanish classical guitarist Paul Sweeny.  Free admission.  Cash bar.

Carlota Santana was hailed as “The Keeper of Flamenco” by Dance Magazine and honored by the King and Government of Spain with La Cruz de la Orden al Merito Civil for “all the years of passion, excellence and dedication to the Flamenco art.” Carlota Santana is an internationally renowned Flamenco and Spanish dance artist and educator. In 1983, she co-founded Flamenco Vivo with Roberto Lorca and for more than thirty years the company has led the way in developing the art of Flamenco in the USA.
